Volunteers of Lindfield Repair Caf\u00e9<\/a> (Sussex, UK) are doing their best to\u00a0encourage local young people to get involved. Here’s what founder and organiser Trevor Carpenter wrote to Repair Caf\u00e9 International:<\/p>\n

“We had our first Repair Cafe on the 6th of November. It was such a huge success!\u00a0We also had a kids table, where children learn to take things apart and maybe even put them back together. This was such a success too. Every month we are having different\u00a0themes now.<\/p>\n

Toys, computers, clothes…<\/h2>\n

December’s theme will be repairing children’s toys, and donating old toys to give for Christmas.\u00a0In January, we will focus on computers\u00a0for kids. They will learn how to take computers apart. We will also collect computers for a local organisation that repairs computers to give to underprivileged\u00a0children to help with their school work. In February, we will have a toy swap. In March, we will teach kids to repair\u00a0clothes, and there will be a kids clothes swap.<\/p>\n

This way, we not only want to help reduce landfill waste, but we also hope to ignite a passion with local young people to become our future repairers.”<\/div>\n
