All over the world, some 13,500 volunteers commit to lessening waste and increasing reparations in the name of Repair Caf\u00e9. We look back on a year full of repair fun.<\/p>\n<p>And still every week new organisers are ordering the English-language <a href=\"https:\/\/www.repaircafe.org\/en\/start\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">starter kits<\/a> from the Repair Caf\u00e9 foundation. In India, Egypt and Japan, among others, volunteers opened one or more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.repaircafe.org\/en\/visit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Repair Caf\u00e9s<\/a> in the past year. And with the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.repaircafe.org\/es\/organizar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spanish<\/a> and soon Japanese starter kit, the number of Repair Caf\u00e9s will also continue to grow next year.<\/p>\n<p>Partly because of this, we renewed the Repair Caf\u00e9 website in 2015. On the new platform you can read about the Repair Caf\u00e9 in English, Dutch, German, French and Spanish. You can easily search for a Repair Caf\u00e9 and come into contact with (other) organisers and repair enthusiasts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Year\u2019s Dream<br \/>\n<\/strong>In the past year, the Repair Caf\u00e9 foundation has been active for the repairability of items. In the spring, together with six other (mostly European) organisations, we published a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.repaircafe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Mission_Statement_Reparability_and_Durability_of_Products.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mission statement<\/a>: things must be durable and well repairable, and repair information should be available to everyone. We have been lobbying in Brussels at the European Commission to create enthusiasm for our ideas. We hope that, step-by-step, we head in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>Martine Postma, initiator of the Repair Caf\u00e9, also has a New Year\u2019s Dream: Repair Caf\u00e9 lessons for all primary school students. In the coming year, the Repair Caf\u00e9 foundation will work together with interested teachers to make a curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>The worldwide success of the Repair Caf\u00e9 provides a toolbox full of energy for 2016.
