And Wessex Insurance WAS great.
But now they are specifying no repair to AIR FRYERS or MICROWAVES.
We think we should be able to assess the risk ourselves not have a blanket ban. These items are frequently send to the Waste Reception Centres when they could be saved by a skilled repairer.

Please note Export and General Insurance Services (E&G) no longer exist. They have been taken over by : https://www.wessex-insurance.com. They still offer a Men’s Shed Policy that covers Repair Cafes.

Here in Portishead I am a member of a group keen on establishing a Repair Cafe. One member has been in discussions with insurance brokers but has encountered a road block: we are advised to obtain Product Liability insurance as well as Public Liability insurance. However, it appears we are unable to find a company to provide Product Liability insurance. So the question to you is – Is this really a requirement and if so does E&G provide such insurance cover?
Any advice from the Repair Cafe International or E&G wouold be most welcome.

We are starting a Repair Cafe in Prestwood and Great Missenden, Buckinghanshire. We are being allowed free use of a hall by the Parish Coouncil, but they expect hirers to have £10M public liablity insurance.

We are also advised that a mix of £5M PLA plus £10M employers liability better meets the needs of repair cafes. We intent to ask council if they would accept this.

We should be grateful for advice and quotations for alternative policies.
